how i planned your wedding

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

my beloved bride from a couple of years ago and dear friend, elizabeth wiggs wrote a book with her mother, best selling author, susan wiggs.  it’s called how i planned your wedding.  as you can tell from my writing that i am not much of a reader, but i couldn’t put the book down!  it’s hilarious, heart warming and brutally honest.  it reminded me of the time when i was planning my own wedding.  the excitement, the stress, the tears, the laughter, all of it!  i think it’s a great book for any brides, future brides, mothers, boyfriends, fiances, husbands, fathers…  everyone can relate!  not to mention it has some great tibbits for planning your dream wedding that i wish i had discovered when i was planning my wedding.  seriously, go get the book!

on a related news, i shot a few author photos of susan for her books last year.  she sent me an image of my photo on the back of her book.  it’s huge!  i love seeing my photos in print.  doesn’t she look so lovely?

happy new year!

peek-a-boo + my new philosophy about life… at the moment

saturday was our 10 year high school reunion.  david and i had to ditch because we were busy shooting a wonderful wedding.  i didn’t  miss out completely though.  my old friend (first year of junior high we had almost every class together ), jesse and his lovely fiance, kara came out from vegas and hung out with me thursday morning.   we caught up and managed to get some super romantic images for their engagement sesh.

* * *

wow, can’t believe it’s been 10 years already…  this is where i usually start my rant about how sad i am about getting old…  but today, today i feel blessed.  yes, it does suck that i am getting older: my metabolism can’t seem to catch up with my love for food, my daily moisturizing regiment has doubled in time, and i have to work for a living, instead for the j crew discount.  but other than that, everything else in my life has changed for the better.  i have a wonderful family, a job i absolutely adore, great friends, no more homework and tests (my mortal enemy), the list goes on and on.  i can honestly say that the last 10 years have been great for me.  i can’t wait to see what the next 10 will bring!

of course, this is how i feel today.  tomorrow?  who knows.  maybe when i see my first wrinkle i will be singing a different tune.

wish all the ’00 vikings another wonderful decade!

macarons!

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

so lately, i’ve been bitten by the baking bug, HARD.  i find the whole process of mixing and piping really relaxing.  one bake good i am determined to master is the french macaron.  these little suckers are very hard to make due to their tempermental nature.  every procedure must be precise.  i must have baked at least 10 batches before they became even half way decent.  i don’t know how much heartache i’ve endured while making these cookies, but when i get it right, boy, it is rewarding!

these are batch #13.  they will be part of a very special engagement session i will be shooting tomorrow.  stay tuned.
