i absolutely love shooting kids/family portrait. the images always end up to be an unexpected, yet pleasant surprise. case in point, maliya and melissa’s family portrait.
on the way to santa monica beach, maliya sang a few of the billboard chart toppers for us, such as damaged by danity kane, and britney spear’s gimme more . dave and i were both so tickled and amazed by how a 2 year old was able to memorized the lyrics to these pop songs, that we don’t even know the words too. watch out american idol, maliya’s coming to get you soon!
see you girls soon in september!
i had so much fun talking about wedding stuff with quynh upon our first meeting. i loved seeing her enthusiasm sparkled through her eyes as she told me about all the incredible deals she’s found. in return, my eyes sparkled back with admiration. any bride can tell you, part of the fun when it comes to wedding planning is finding those killer deals. i know i was definitely into the hunt.
here’s some of my favorite images from quynh + daniel’s engagement session a couple of weeks ago.
lisa + kent scheduled their engagement portrait all the way back in november of last year because they loved the uw campus and its ever-so-popular cherry blossoms in the spring. like every other groom, kent warned me about his discomfort in front of the camera, and the “fake smile” that he inherited from his father. however, lisa, with her super fun and charismatic personality, was able to make her man feel so comfortable that it was impossible for me to catch his “fake smile.” instead, it was shot after shot of genuine happiness. i mean just look at some of the images from this shoot!
this one is actually sort of an outtake. lisa was suppose to hop onto kent’s back, but on the way up there, she accidentally kicked kent in a certain sensitive area… it’s just too funny for me to not post it.
the YWP reflection!
and here comes the long awaited money shot, the reason for the location: the infamous uw cherry blossoms… of course with the YWP twist
i can’t wait for more of these crazy fun at your wedding comes july!
one of my favorite part in wedding photography is designing the wedding album. i love playing with the layout of the images to compose a story. i look a leap of faith and entered miranda+cory’s album to the very competitive annual wppi album competition. to my surprise, i received an email from them last week to let me know that my album actually received an ” accolade of excellence .” regardless, i really enjoyed designing this album, but a little recognition is always welcome…
here’s some highlights from the album:
