more than meets the eye

although i was more of a smurf/strawberry shortcake/jem girl, the new transformers movie definitely sparked an excitement and familiarity for me. i was able to catch the sneak preview screening on thursday, and o my gosh, it was such a great film! i left the theater, staring at my car for a good minute, hoping it would start transforming into a robot…
besides the obvious mind blowing visual effects and our favorite robots, shia lebeouf was definitely one of the best thing about the film. his hilarious performance really gave new life to the once 2 dimensional character of sam witwicky aka spike (from the cartoon). some die-hard transformers fans are disappointed because the story and the robots are not completely accurate to the original, but what remake has been completely accurate with the original? i guess i wasn’t that huge of a transformers fan when i was little, so i’m not really that bothered by it. my only rant would be that the whole movie was kind of a blatant advertisement for GM and some of the transformation scenes were too fast and too close, so it was really confusing and almost kind of messy.
all in all, i really liked the film, and I think it’s definitely better than spiderman 3 and fantastic 4! i can’t wait for the sequal to come out.
p.s. o yea, the opening of the film was a bit lame and really cheesy. i thought it was a parady from snl.
can’t wait for that movie, it looks too cool.
